Release History:

The 1.0.0 release was catered to the then-standard 16:9 aspect ratio phone screens, with a 4:3 aspect ratio canvas. You used to only be able to clear your canvas by shaking your device!

The 2.0.0 release unlocked the canvas aspect ratio to take advantage of phone screens getting taller, added Undo/Redo capabilities, revamped the Toolbox, and brought in many other Quality of Life improvements.

Version 2.0.1 removed sound effects and vibration, simplified the Settings page, and added support for exporting to any location on the phone’s storage. This release was purely addressing the leading user feedback, and again served to improve QoL.

The 2.1.x series of releases were all purely for policy compliance (turns out Google can be pretty strict when you are enrolled in the Made for Families programme) and did not add any features. Around this time, Scoped Storage on Android broke how SketchPad used to store its exports.

The 2.2.x series started targeting Android 13, and properly implemented Android Media Storage. SketchPad can now export files without requiring any Storage permissions. There are periodic maintenance releases to pull in SDK updates, and maintain policy compliance to ensure a smooth and safe experience for all SketchPad users.

Version 3.x is currently brewing, and will bring with it a complete remake and redesign of SketchPad. Many highly requested features are set to be added to SketchPad with this future release.
